Google Profiles

Filed under: Google — soap @ 10:36 pm

Now Google is allowing its users to create their home pages at Google Profiles

Basically it will help Google in creating a better search result, when someone searches for your name.

It will also help Google create a better profile of its users.

You might say, here goes another conspiracy theory. But think about it, your privacy, if you value it, is gone. Better stay away from such evil if you value your privacy.

You would be amazed at the fact that someone evil can know almost everything about you from the internet.

Its like whenever you go on the internet, you leave a bread crum trail, which companies like Double Click can track and figure out your preferences. Accidently Double Click is now owned by Google. They Paid around 3.1 Billion Dollars for it. So go figure this out for youself.

Now you will not be Mr. Anonymous anymore, they will have a name for you.

Google Angorithm update expected soon

Filed under: Google Angorithm Update — soap @ 7:36 am

This current update will be targeting Black Hat SEO.

For the last few months, cyber criminals were using blackhat seo techniques to manipulate the search rankings with spammy pages and getting them on top of results.

They were using google trends to find the buzz keywords, then creating enough links, spammy pages and other black hat techniques.

You should only worry if you have implemented any blackhat seo techniques on your website, otherwise you have nothing to fear.

Conficker creating havoc in Karachi Pakistan

Filed under: Security and Consulting — soap @ 8:13 am

Conficker has been spreading itself very rapidly in our part of the world. Because of mass use of pirated versions of windows and people not using windows update.

Whole networks are down as I write this and businesses have already reported losses amounting to millions of rupees because of these recent attacks.

PTCL, the largest telecom provider was also not spared and people had to wait a few hours just to get the same response from their support people, that format your pc and download and patch for this worm from our website. At one point, they just played the same recording to everyone calling them for support

I’ll be honest with you, some of my clients, who I do consulting with were spared, even though PTCL DSL service was severely hampered. I would like to take the credit for implementing enough security on their systems so they were spared.

1. Having licensed windows is the first step, then windows update to the latest patches.
2. Having updated antivirus software with latest updates.
3. Having malware protection and / or spyware protection, windows defender a good choice.
4. Having Malicious Software Removal Tool installed on user systems.

I am available for consulting if your network is still down.
