The Truth behind Pay to Click PTC Programs

Filed under: Pay to Click — soap @ 10:33 pm

PTC is a new buzz word in my Country Pakistan. I have been getting calls from people in the last few weeks asking me about how to earn money through clicking on ads.

And in the beginning I was like WHAT? say that again.

but later on I found that black hat people who are trying to game people into clicking on ads on websites on a mass scale have started advertising in Newspapers and are getting good responses from people who do not understand how marketing works on the internet.

So i though, that I should try to show people the right way to earn money from the internet and not get involved into these online scams and clicking and watching useless ads for 30 seconds each while trying to earn like 1 Cent or less.

Some crazy people have reportedly started clicking mindlessly on ads and all I have to say is conversions for these will be ZERO and soon advertisers and PPC companies will figure out that they are been taken for a ride in Pakistan and then they could just discount all click from Pakistan and cause millions of people losing genuine revenues from their websites.

The Correct way to earn is to build good content rich websites for niche markets and place some ads on it so that it can generate enough to pay for itself in a few years time. When you do this ethically, then you are not trying to entice or fool people into clicking on your ads. The ads are placed in marked areas and its a win win situation for all parties. The advertisers pay to get their ads on publishers property. The readers / visitors get the article / information what they are looking for in first place, and after consuming the content, they see the ads, which are relevant to the content, so they say, ok, lets see, maybe i want to buy some of this stuff because these ads are relevant / targeted. And its a win win situation for all parties.

But what these mentally challenged people are doing now is 100% un-ethical, illegal and against all online advertising rules, policies and principles. They are hiring people just to click on ads atleast for 2 hours every day and maybe working like link farms used to work in the past, maybe in groups of 10 to 25 and sharing the loot as well.

My motive of bringing light to the situation is to enlighten people how to ethically earn money online and not to fall into the hands of these people who are trying to make a quick buck and ruin the online advertising space.

I have a very good example in this connection. Remember the good old days in 90′s when people used to only use email for communication purposes, then some people started using it for marketing which we now call email spam. Just look at what these opportunist have done to a good system. At one time, I had even come to the conclusion that people would switch to a spam free alternative to email as soon as one becomes available. Hell I would invent one if I had the means :)

Basically what will happen here is that possibly advertisers will not get their conversations and they would most probably demand refunds, which will eventually lead to many of these add networks closing down or they would close all these fraud click accounts. I know as a fact that Google is closing down adsence accounts and confiscating / disounting the earnings which were earned through fraudulent clicks.

I think the term PAY TO CLICK PTC symbolizes something similar to black hat.

One last warning to all these people running PTC advertisements in newspapers in all cities like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and other smaller cities of Pakistan is to stop this insanity and illegal activity because they might get away with it for the next few months. But as soon as the advertisers and add networks catch you and your friends, then your game will be up and you will once again cause your country’s name come into bad books like many times before in the past.

I appeal to you to stop your illegal activity and try to learn some ethical ways to earn money on the internet. Maybe help your friends learn website designing and development, outsourcing etc. and make a living legally and ethically.
