Outgoing email problem with Comcast
Yesterday I had to stay up all night trying to solve a problem on a client’s machine.
I was able to sign in to the clients computer using Logmein which is an excellent software for remote desktop connection and Free with limited options.
So this problem was re-occuring at the clients computer for the last few months and was haunting me, giving me nightmares and adding to the frustration of the client.
now the problem was simple enough. the client was not able to send outgoing emails.
I tried everything but nothing seemed to work.
finally a good tech support person told me that some ISP use port 26 for outgoing email instead of the port 25.
I checked and the client was using Comcast.
I changed the outgoing port to 26, reset her WIFI modem, enabled Mac Address filtering on her Router and it works like a breeze now.
